Google Art Project

Coffee, switching channels Matt Lauer to Gayle King, then Robin Roberts then back again- summer. During my morning channel surfing ritual, I saw a story on the Google Art Project. The Google Art Project allows you to explore collections from around the world with thousands of artworks photographed in extremely high resolution. You can create your own galleries, there are details and education pages for the artworks.

www.googleartproject.com  My mind started to swirl how can I use this in classroom.  Share a comment on how you might use it in the classroom-- oh I forget the mention the best part no ads on the site :)  Have fun exploring Here is  a link to the story from CBS Morning News

DISCOVERY EDUCATION

One of my favorite go to resources is Discovery Education. It is an invaluable resource. I am able to incorporate interactive media, videos, images. I am able to bring my students to places they may never have the opportunity to see in person. Reading Rainbow, Life, Jeff Corwin, and Grossology are just a few of my students favorites. Using the interactive experiments in Discovery Science, allows my students to conduct experiments that we otherwise would have to read about. Discovery also creates lessons with all of the resources included. Here is a link to to The Good Egg Project Education Station it  takes your students on a virtual field trip to an egg farm.

SUMMER TIME

Wow, I can't believe the 2011-2012 school year is over. My district is going through a  period of reorganization. Yikes! Reorganization- school closures, layoffs, new principals, and friends retiring. If I were a blogger, like Mrs. Mimi , I would really vent and give more details, but I am going to keep this a positive reflection of what is happening in my class.
Once the school year starts my goal is to post weekly about activities in the classroom.  I will continue posting during the summer with ideas and plans for the upcoming school year.
